New Additions:
I started this week by designing and building a third level for my game. This level uses moving platforms prominently.
Some elements needed to be changed in the building process.
I have also added a new mechanic to the game, collectable coins, to be placed around the levels to give the player some incentive for taking more difficult paths.
At the end of the week, I started drawing some of the art assets for the game. These included the Walls and Doors. On top of this, I have also sketched out some ideas for the other assets in the game.
Changes/Fixes:
During the week, I also fixed up some issues found in the second level. Some parts were especially difficult, and the player would not collide with spikes in a number of locations. I adjusted the spaces between the walls in level 2, and adjusted the code on the spikes and player to ensure collision detection occurs properly.
During the week, I also fixed up some problems that emerged from dying, and not having Doors/Key and Coins respawn. Now these items will re-appear when the player respawns before a checkpoint where the Door was opened or the Coin was collected.
Challenges:
My biggest challenge this week was worrying about the scale of the project. As I only plan to have 4 levels now, I feel as though I will complete the game well before the end of the build time. I understand I could add more levels, but I am afraid that I would get carried away at that point, focus too much on levels, and neglect the other aspects of the project.
